Pro-Tech Services is a medical device manufacturing company located in
Mukilteo, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. Pro-Tech manufactures a
variety of products used to aid in the diagnoses of sleep disorders
and sleep research.
The company was started by Wally
Carruthers in 1987 as an independent
bio-medical service company. Pro-Tech contracted with hospitals to
service and maintain their diagnostic instrumentation.
Early in the company's history, local hospitals began setting up sleep
laboratories. These hospitals would contract with Pro-Tech to
interface the various pieces of monitoring equipment used in the sleep
test. At the time, sleep professionals were frustrated by the lack of
available quality sensors. Most sensors were homemade, fragile and
would often fail during the sleep test. The labs were desperate for
help and Pro-Tech recognized an opportunity to develop a needed
product.
Our first sensors detected respiratory
airflow and respiratory effort.
The sensors were well received by the local sleep technologists, and
marked the beginning of a successful and growing partnership with our
valued customers. Pro-Tech received a significant break when the sleep
laboratory at Stanford University discovered our sensors. The Stanford
lab had an associated training program where professionals from all
over the world came to learn more about sleep disorders and the
testing methods.
The program's medical director, Dr. Germon Nino Murcia and training
coordinator, Sharon Keenan liked the Pro-Tech sensors and requested
them for both the sleep lab and for the School of Sleep Medicine. Due
to this exposure, requests began coming in from across the country and
around the world for Pro-Tech sensors.
Pro-Tech has an expanding line of sensors and products for the sleep
lab. Our staff is committed to giving customers the best products and
service anywhere in the industry, now and into the future.
Pro-Tech sensors are considered class two medical devices by the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration and must be manufactured under a
stringent quality assurance system. The Pro-Tech quality system is
ISO9001 certified by the British Standards Institution (certification
number FM39012).
