Eco Electrical Systems, Inc. - Manufacture of products that help
prevent raptors, eagles, hawks, and animals from being electrocuted on
high voltage power circuits.
Eco Electrical Systems engineers and manufactures bird guard and
wildlife protective products. The conductor covers and deterrents are
used on overhead distribution poles to protect birds of prey or
eagles, hawks, owls, and other avian species from being electrocuted
or injured on high voltage power lines.
Utilities have been designing and constructing distribution circuits
for nearly a century, utilizing wood, steel, concrete, and composite
poles. These poles provide a perch for birds to hunt for prey. These
poles support the wires or conductors that distribute the power needed
for our everyday lives. When a raptor, or bird, comes in contact with
one of these energized wires and ground, an insulator, or comes in
contact with two of these energized wires simultaneously the result is
usually fatal to the bird and results in an outage for the utility.
The Department of Justice recently ruled that under the Migratory Bird
Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act a utility
whose equipment electrocutes federally protected birds could face
criminal prosecution.
At Eco Electrical Systems we work together with utilities, wildlife
biologists, engineers, line personnel, and manufacturers to design
bird guard and wildlife protective products that will help prevent
electrocutions.

Pacs Industries - Switchgear manufacturer of circuit breakers designed
for generators, substations, transformers and power plants.
PACS Industries, Inc., has manufactured metalclad switchgear since
1972. Circuit breaker elements, protective relays and other components
for inclusion into PACS Metalclad Switchgear may be manufactured by
companies such as ABB, G.E., Siemens, Square D/Merlin Gerin, A.E.G.,
GEC-Alsthom and others.
The heart of PACS metalclad switchgear assemblies are the circuit
breakers. Through 15kv, PACS purchases standard production models of
circuit breakers and circuit breaker "skeletons". The stationary
portion of the "skeleton" is jig-assembled and tested as is the
drawout circuit breaker element.
Above the 25Kv level (and where else necessary), PACS purchases Vacuum
or SF6 circuit breaker interrupter-assemblies, which we manufacture
into our own ANSI and I.E.C. tested, drawout trucks, cubicles and
switchgear.
The PACS manufacturing process consists in its simplest form, of
assembling "skeletons" into specified switchgear lineups,
manufacturing front and rear sheet-metal compartments, busing power
circuits, fabricating required weatherproof housings and completing
whatever else is required to fulfill PACS' contractual obligations.
The completed equipment then goes through a quality control and
specification conformance procedure, is ANSI or IEC production tested
and shipped.
PACS switchgear may be designed for generator switchgear, feeder
units, bus-tie units, or for whatever standard or special applications
may be required. Single and double bus bar systems are standard. The
latest microprocessor relays are available.

Quick Industries, LLC. - Manufacturer of simple mechanical devices
that directly attach to pole-mounted equipment and make switching
operations a simple task.
Quick Industries, LLC was founded in fall of 1999 as a Georgia based
company created with the vision of introducing new and innovative
products to the electric utility industry. Quick is an LLC Partnership
bringing together individuals with decades of experience in
manufacturing, design and electric utility operations.
Corporate offices are located in Thomasville, GA with marketing and
sales offices located in Atlanta, GA.
With a full compliment of products for the electric utility industry
under development, Quick is currently taking orders for its premier
products: QuickTrigger, QuickHook, QuickClip, QuickTip, QuickBeam,
QuickSleeve and QuickLever and future products. These products are
designed to allow utility linemen to perform their tasks on an
electric distribution system faster and safer. Additionally, our
products allow utilities to restore power faster during times of
natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms
and even thunderstorms.
For decades electric utilities have operated their pole mounted
equipment with the traditional hook stick method. For utility system
crews, this has been a challenging and sometimes impossible task to
accomplish. With some equipment mounted up to forty-five feet in the
air it becomes nearly impossible to hook a one-inch ring with a
flexible fiberglass extension rod.
Because of this, work crews often use their bucket trucks to get
closer to the switching devices. This requires time increasing outage
duration and multiplying the risk of injury to personnel. Most
governing state utility commissions include outage duration in a
utility's measurement of performance. Quick products can improve this
measurement by significantly reducing customer outage duration.
Quick products fill the industry need of easier methods to operate
pole-mounted switching devices such as: oil circuit reclosers, fused
cut-outs, sectionalizers, CSP transformers, in line disconnect
switches and other hook stick type switches on electric distribution
systems. Our products are simple mechanical devices that directly
attach to pole mounted equipment and make switching operations a
simple task.

Victor Insulators, Inc. - Manufacturer of high voltage insulators with
information on the company, events, location, products and contacts.
Victor Insulators, Inc. was founded in 1893 by Fred M. Locke.
Fred Locke was one of the great early contributors to the successful
establishment and growth of the electric power industry in North
America. In 1893 he developed and patented a process for manufacturing
wet process porcelain for use in insulators for power lines. His
accomplishment was in no small way a key contribution to the eventual
growth of the electric power industry. Prior to Fred's
accomplishments, insulators were at best unreliable for the demands of
this growing industry.
Although the company that Fred Locke established in Victor NY has
changed names over the years, Victor Insulators, Inc. is the direct
successor to the operation that he began over 100 years ago.
Today, Victor is a privately held (employee owned) company dedicated
to the same ideals that have been successful since 1893. Our
commitment to quality, service and competitive pricing continues to
make us the preferred supplier of insulators.
Located in Victor, NY (near Rochester)
Victor's plant today consists
of over 320,000 square feet of manufacturing space and employs
approximately 250 people.
Victor manufactures the widest product line of any North American
insulator manufacturer. The manufacturing process produces insulators
ranging in weight from a few ounces to hundreds of pounds and
application voltages from hundreds of volts to hundreds of thousands
of volts.Insulators are manufactured from standard strength silica
porcelain, high strength alumina porcelain, EPDM rubber and silicone
rubber.
All porcelain products are manufactured using wet process porcelain to
ensure reliable, trouble free operation for the life of the
installation of the product. Insulators are available in two porcelain
classes - standard strength silica porcelain for normal applications
and high strength alumina porcelain for severe duty.
Ceramic processing is controlled by a highly trained staff of
professional engineers dedicated to ensuring that product quality
remains our number one priority. Victor is continuously updating
manufacturing methods and equipment and participates in research
programs with major universities to ensure that we remain at the
forefront of insulator technology.
Polymeric insulators are manufactured from EPDM rubber for normal duty
application and silicone rubber for contaminated environments.
Polymeric products are injection molded using the latest in cold
runner molding technology.
Insulators are manufactured from standard strength silica porcelain,
high alumina EPDM rubber and silicone rubber. The mechanical and
electrical test laboratory and the ceramic laboratory are used to
verify product and process conformance. These labs have the capability
to perform all necessary tests to ensure product quality or to assist
customers in developing products for new applications. Victor makes
use of our laboratories available to customers at a nominal fee to
assist in verification, selection and analysis of insulators.
