Alternative Solutions Inc. (ASI) began in
April of 1992. Originally known as Advanced SMT Stencils, we started with chemically
etched brass solder paste stencils. Over the following year we began etching stainless
steel stencils. We added an extra step, micro-polishing, to all our stencils at no extra
cost. To give our customers better quality we began offering laser cut stencils at
chemical-etched prices.
In January of 1998 management decided to
go 100% laser cut offering better quality to all of our customers, along with becoming
environmentally friendly, utilizing no chemicals. Instead of the micro-polish step, we now
Laser Burnish, yielding excellent hole wall surfaces. We purchased a second Lumonics
Screen Cut 4000 laser to support the continued growth of our business. We saw the demand
for larger framed stencils and in October 2000 we purchased a third laser from Directed
Light. We also realized this laser is capable of cutting much larger custom frames. We can
now accommodate a variety of custom size frames. To date the largest has been
52"X62". This laser has also been able to cut up to 30 mil thick material.
As we pass a milestone, ten years in the
business, some things remain the same. We still have the same great quality, service and
pricing that has allowed us to grow so much. We still do not charge premiums for quick
turn orders and, as always, we still have an open door policy welcoming our customers and
prospective customers to come in and have a tour or just visit.
