DEGREASER. This high-performing, heavy duty, non-toxic, alkaline,
versatile detergent is designed to use both chemical and physical
actions to clean in most industrial applications. PURE contains a
number of chemical components, such as wetting agents, surfactants,
saponifers, chelators, anti re-deposition, additives, and corrosion
inhibitors to ensure the best cleaning and degreasing performance.
This formulation allows PURE to effectively replace ozone-depleting
solvents such as TCE, PCE, and corrosive cleaners, while at the same
time safeguarding employees and environmental concerns.
PURE's chemical makeup contains "wetting agents", which penetrate,
loosen, and emulsify machine oils, greases, cutting oils, and
contaminates trapped in crevices. The ability of PURE to "wet" a
particular surface, especially in penetrating tight spaces, is
important and is one of the reasons it contains surfactants, which
assist in lifting the soils off the surface.
PURE's Saponification Ability: Here, alkalinity and heat of solution
can chemically act on certain oils. In this manner they are
partially or fully broken down into their constituent fatty acids
and esters. Once this has occurred, PURE's saponification takes
place by neutralizing the fatty acids. These neutralized fatty acids
(soaps) are now ionic in nature and thus fully or partially water-
soluble. This process is obviously beneficial in that by helping to
make oils water-soluble, it becomes easier to remove away from the
surface of the part.
The surfactants in PURE reduce the surface tension at the oil-water
interface. As the oil is lifted off, a thin film of surfactant fully
or partially encapsulates the oil droplet, making the combined
structure water-soluble in preventing the oil from re-depositing on
the metal's surface. After a short period, depending on the
stability of the emulsion, the oil may be released by the
surfactant. The oil then can float to the surface, where it can be
easily recovered.
Once PURE releases these oils and does not react with them the
surfactant becomes available again to potentially remove, emulsify,
and then release additional oils during the cleaning process. When
PURE's mixing ratios are properly maintained the product can be
cycled again and again through cleaning applications with little
loss in efficiency. On average, PURE Industrial Degreaser can remove
these oils for a longer period of wash time versus conventional
degreasers, thus bringing extraordinary savings in terms of costs.
